Helping with our communities' youth employment training needs!

Academic & Employment Services (AES) year-round youth program assist youth to obtain knowledge, job skills, and awareness of worker traits. These traits are necessary to compete and succeed in the labor market.  We focus on the development of basic academic skills, use of standard office equipment, computer literacy, and paid work experience.

The year-round youth program operates from July 1 through June 30 of each year. It is designed to provide youth who are academically deficient in mathematics and reading with tutorial services so they may improve in these areas.  Youth also receive work readiness skills training which include: resume writing, job application preparation, work ethics, career awareness, interpersonal relations, positive attitude, self-esteem, and others.  Students receive stipends upon satisfactory completion of these activities.

AES' year-round program also offers paid work experience training during the regular school year and summer months to any youth 14 - 21 years of age, in or out of school, also handicapped or disabled youth.  The type of work experience training provided is based on the career or vocational interest of the applicant and is with a public or private employer.  Work experience training is generally three to four hours daily and all youth are paid the existing minimum wage.
